This is a thread to beg Ed to make an adapter that will plug in-line for a harley headset to allow use of the headset microphone for a phone connected to the Zumo. I know it has been talked about and I know there are some challenges but I am pretty sure there are other HD owners that would benefit from having an adapter to be able to use the headset mic. PLEASE!!!!

Yes, please consider making a 7-pin DIN adapter for the Harley Ultra. There is no other reasonable solution to accomplish the above without wires hanging and having two mics on your hemet. ED, please help us!!!

Guys, I have to say that the tooling cost of about $5K and production minimums of 10,000 parts makes it a big loss given that the demand for a 7-pin unit is about 3-5 units a year. I know it might be more if they were available, but I can't see where I'd ever recover even the tooling cost in my lifetime. However, if you only want an earbud jack, just try the 5-pin version and it will work fine as long as you don't need the 7-pin headset to plug into it for the microphone. That should help some of you.

I SECOND THAT MOTION! I ride with several people who would love something like that, me especially. I saw something on their website that talked about using the 5-pin with a 7-pin, but not sure what they were saying. Apparently this just won't work at this time for Harleys, at least not after 1997????? I hope EsSets is monitoring this and seriously tries to help us Harley folks out. I'm sure Harley is difficult to work with toward this end but other vendors certainly seem to manage it such as with aftermarket bike parts.

I have quite a few friends with HD that would like Edsets.
EdSets are the only thing I will use on my Goldwing, and I hope to be able to use them on any motorcycle I buy. Even a Harley......LOL

Kennedy Technologies makes equipment to wire Bluetooth GPS into the Harley system. But, as I understand it, EdSets won't work on the regular Harley intercom, CB Radio systems.
Am I wrong?????

I agree, was going to send a message to ask if he did custom work to accomplish this. Seems logical that the zumo connection for a mike could be splcied into the H-D connector and allow the miketo work for phone and H-D accessories.
And then bought your head set for a J&M, would that combination work for the later 7 pin harleys?

Dear Ed,
I made a BIG and Expensive mistake purchasing J&M “top of the line” helmet headsets. I have two Nolan N103 helmets and drive a 2007 Harley Ultra Classic.
After reviewing the information on your website, it appears the only thing I can salvage from the J&M install is their cord and plastic housing which snaps into the headset.
I would like to install your speakers and remote mike in both helmets, connecting to J&M harness.
Could you please help me with this and recommend the parts I will need.
Regards,
Tom
Ps - I sent you an email on this subject as well.

I will second that motion, it appears thier close with adapters with 3.5mm connection, just make it 2.5mm connection to the mic lead instead. We need someone to create such a thing.

Can you make an adapter from 5 to 7 pin that would help us Harley people ? I am sure the cost would be a lot less than the entire re-tooling cost.
Thanks !

I just purchased a 2007 Electra Glide UC and I'm looking at the Nolan 103 Helmet with J&M Elite headsets.
Can anyone give me a comparison of J&M to Edsets?

Also, I have an iPhone and it is mounted on the handlebar of my Electra Glide. If I plug the iPhone into the auxiliary imput to the Harley Harmon Karden, will the sound come through to my headset?

has anyone come up with an adapter that will plug in-line for a harley headset to allow use of the headset microphone for a phone connection as well.
The CB & CD & Radio is fine, but I also need to be connected to my cellphone at the same time.

Slacker, the problem is that the bike's mic and the one the cell phone needs are not compatible. Making the connection would not be hard, but the cell would not get the signal it needs from the bike since it is made for a condenser mic, and the bike uses a powered dynamic mic. A direct connection like that could damage the phone. Hence, nobody makes such a device.
Most folks use our mic splitter and a bluetooth GPS and pair the phone with the GPS, and the splitter gives the GPS a safe signal from the bike.
