Topic Love my 3G Headset. One small complaint
I should have reported in sooner and I apologize for that. I've been using the 3G headset on my Royal Star Venture for a few months now and must say that I've very impressed. I've used the cheaper and the best J&M units and finally gave up on them due to poor sound quality and MANY problems with cords.

I then tried the AirRider units and they were not much better, if at all.

These 3G Headsets are all that I was told. Great sound and high quality components. I am very pleased with my purchase.

My one small complaint is with the RCA type microphone. I've had it fall out twice now. Once when removing my helmet and another time while riding. It landed on the passenger floorboard and my wife managed to grab it before it fell to the ground. I have always tried to remember to make sure that it is well seated but it still seems to work out after you ride awhile and move it around a bit. It looks to me like it would be very easy to come up with some sort of rubber retainer to ensure that it stays plugged in. I will come up with something on my own for mine but I think that this is something that should be added to the product.

OK...I lied...there is one more small problem and that is that I NOW have to buy a set for my wife. She is still using the AirRider and is under the impression that she needs a headset as good as mine. :) I will be buying another set soon. Actually, I have to because I still end up using the external speakers on the bike because the music is so bad for her with the older headsets. That means that I'm not getting to use mine the way I want to when riding two up.

I used silicon to put mic in place

To fix this same problem I used black electrical tape on the helmet side of the coil cord connector and then have the bike end to attach to the cord on the bike... did mine and my wife's the same with no problems.. just means that your helmet with have a coil cord on it all the time.. but it works and the fix is very inexpensive...

Don,

I've been looking into this, seems that the PVC that makes up the module and the mic base itself expand and contract with heat and cold. This is probably not going to be part of the new 4G we're working on. I designed a lanyard, but since it has a hard and a soft part, I can't find a molder to make it for us.

In the meantime, a thumbtack in the bottom of the module aimed at the flat square will hold it in place, as will a rubber band passed through itself around the base of the mic boom gooseneck, and then passed around the back of the module or chinstrap just in case.
