|
I have a flip up type Nolan helmet and just recied the N vader headset for it... I bought it because of the small mic that I should be able to attach to the flip up paret of my helmet Except that the wires are sure to be pinced or in the way when the helmet is flipped up and down... Whoo has installed this headset into a flip up type helmet and how did you do it HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nolan is a very very popular helmet with our Sonic N-Vader. We have that little piece of spiral wire wrap for the flip-ups, I guess you've figured out why that's there for the flip-ups on the product page :) Anyway, it's not required at all. The wires won't be damaged, we've never had a report of that, but cosmetically, it's best if you have some wire wrap around them to keep them together for the short piece that's exposed. Look at our installs page at http://edsets.com/install/index.php?cat=6 and you'll find a series of pictures of a Nolan N100 there with EdSets installed in it. Who has done this? I counted about 500 customers a few weeks ago. Surely, if you need some other pictures, someone on the GL1800.ORG site will be happy to post some more. If you need some primer and the spiral wrap (primer helps if your velcro won't stick to the Nolan's inner chinbar), let me know and I'll send some. Ed

Sorry I mistakenly re-posted Ed's email. I meant to bring up a new message to write in. Sorry! Anywho....we installed ours into our Fulmer modular flip face full face helmets. I did mine. My hubby did his. Mine looks way neater than his...hehe. We were able to install in a minimum amount of time, and they work great. Once you get into doing it, you will see exactly what has to go where. I didn't give you directions on how to do it, just some goodwill I'm sending out to you. Thanks, Ed, for the new site. It is awesome!

Check the pics at http://edsets.com/install for some images of how the wires should be routed in the Nolan. The basic idea is that the wire comes out of the fixed part of the helmet as high as possible and near the pivot point of the chinbar hinge, and then back into the chinbar liner as near as possible. When going up and down, you should only have 2-3 inches max showing and it won't be damaged in normal use. We have NEVER had a wire broken like this to my knowledge. Anyone that orders for a modular helmet should also order the modular install kit, which is just a short piece of spiral wire wrap to make the exposed part look a little better. Ed

PIN -- did you get it installed in your Fulmer modular? I'm sorry I didn't check back to the forum in a short timeframe! I truly hope you are not waiting on me. If you are, though, I'll be glad to help. Patrice :-)
